Catalyst Reflective Worship Experiences : Doing and Delegating

We recently partnered up with the Catalyst Conference in Atlanta, GA. Catalyst has a lot of great input, and they wanted to create a space where people could get away to listen and reflect. Uncover The Color create five reflective experiences around their theme “The Tension Is Good.” Over the next few days, we’ll be posting information about those experiences.

Since Catalyst is a conference for Church Leaders, we thought about the tension often involved with people in these positions.  The first experience we created was around the idea of “The Tension of Doing and Delegating.”

We provided participants with a perforated sheet of paper.  On the top half, they wrote something they know God is calling them into in this season of their lives.  This half, they could keep or give to someone else to help them stay accountable.

On the bottom half of paper, participants were instructed to write something they are currently doing that is preventing them from fully stepping into what they know they should be doing.  They were then invited to dip that half in a jar of paint and stick it to a large canvas.  This represented God’s ability to make things beautiful in our surrender.

This was by far the coolest layer of Catalyst….i've been waiting for conferences to "get" this and provide these types of transitional worship spaces.

Thanks for curating this environment so a few of us could escape the noise once in a while. Lots of great stations … we're experimenting more and more with this at my church.

We did a variation of this at our youth camp's prayer journey this past weekend. It was such a beautiful part of the interactive experience. Thanks so much for the idea!
