The Role of Public Art

While many buildings and cities are built upon the principle of utility, there’s a very important role of art in the enjoyment of life and even in creating a healthy economy. This week, The Daytona Beach News Journal published this article about the positive fiscal benefits of the arts on a city.

Over the last few months, several artists who are part of Uncover The Color have been brainstorming public arts projects, and now we’re stepping out and creating it.

But for us, this is more than just serving the purpose of “public art.” The project – at its core – is about connectivity. First, several artists connected to brainstorm ideas. Then they will come together to build the piece. Once the piece is constructed, it will invite individuals to move from simply viewing the piece to actually interacting with it.

And even funding the project will take the involvement of people – including you. United Arts of Central Florida has been gracious enough to begin the funding process with a $1000 grant, but that’s just the beginning. Please consider joining with us to bring this piece to life!
