Great Post. I have many issues with the lack of Creativity present in Christian art. II remember a time when we were all asked to draw our faith. Most people drew a cross, however that really didn't represent their faith. Maybe in some official statement but not their personal faith. I know this because when I talked with them truly about their faith in a way deeper then some creed or official theological statement, they described challenges and struggles far different than the pristine crosses they drew. Some of them should have drawn darkness or maybe a cross filled with questions. I think the real issue of honest art and creativity is just that. It requires the artist to be honest, open, and transparent while the world teaches us to hide.

I was so excited to be able to encounter this in Atlanta this year. Each experience in itself was powerful and thought provoking, let alone all together in one impactful space. Through the hustle of the event of Catalyst, this was a focused, hugely Spirit-filled presence of peace, movement and holy reflection and recentering. Uncover the Color breaks through all creative molds.

I was thinking something similar to Parker after viewing Brighton Rock, based on Graham Greene's novel, this weekend. Greene wouldn't be acceptable to the average late 20th, early 21st c. Protestant American Christian because his Christians live morally ambiguous lives -- they sometimes strive to do something right, they do many things wrong, they sometimes remember to ask God's forgiveness, and they sometimes receive God's comfort. Greene can write an ending that's almost black and white ... then he has to "spoil" it by reminding us that as long as we're in this world, we'll live with gray. He's as far from the well-loved "painter of light" as you can get, but a much better arbiter of what it means to live our faith.

Hey Chad,

Sorry to hear that we've disappointed you, but very honored to know that you appreciated the art section of the site. Just a little more info for you... We do plan to relaunch the art section of the site some time in the future with enhanced usability. We were finding that people that our site it built for were having a hard time knowing how to implement the stuff. So, we have some ideas on how to make that better. Once we get the money to make it happen, we'll relaunch that portion. So, come back :)

There's a whole heap of image aggregator sites such as Dropular around: Ffffound!, VisualizeUs, Yayeveryday, Lookwork etc.. but the greatest so far in my opinion is 'Designspiration' – it is understated and well designed with some subtle features. http://designspiration.net/
