Interactive experiences are at the heart of what and who Uncover The Color is. And we’re continuing to learn just how important shared experiences are.

It can be wonderful listening to someone present an idea. The same is true about watching a movie or listening to a song. Watching and listening can have profound impacts on our lives. But something unique happens when we go beyond spectating and actually engage our whole self with an idea.

As we’ve had the opportunity to engage with thousands of people through creative and interactive experiences, we’ve seen this to be true beyond even our expectations.

I remember sitting in a reflective space that we created at an event of several thousand leaders. We had created a piece called “Doing and Delegating” specifically for this event. These leaders were invited to write something they knew they were created to do on one half of a piece of paper. On the other half, they wrote something that was preventing them from doing that thing that they knew they needed to give away. Then, they were invited to dip that half in a jar of paint and stick it to a canvas.

I sat in chair near this experience for the first few hours the tent was open and watched these leaders come in and dip the papers into jars of paint. It was amazing to see the depth of this experience far beyond what I could have hoped. The leaders were getting elbow deep in the dirtiness of dripping paint. They were letting these things go symbolically, but it was obvious that it was more than a symbol. People were being freed from things that were keeping them from really moving forward in the things they were created to do.

And all the while, the canvas became more and more beautiful. It was such a clear demonstration that as we give up our fears, as we let go of control and as we surrender, something profound comes into existence.

Stories are an integral part of human history. And we, as humans, love stories. But often times we don’t think about our own. I think that’s why Uncover The Color exists. We want to create engaging experiences that help people discover and awaken to the power of their own stories.
